Do I need a referral from a GP?
No, you do not need a GP referral to access psychological services. However to claim a Medicare rebate you do need a valid GP Mental Health Care Plan.
Medicare Rebate
With a valid GP Mental Health Care Plan you can access up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. As of July 2026, the session fee is $240 and the Medicare rebate is $149.05.
Can I claim a rebate through my private health fund?
Depending on your level of cover you may be able to claim a proportion of your fee with your health fund. It is best to clarify this with your insurer.
Do you accept Insurance Commission WA cases?
Yes! If you have a valid claim with Insurance Commission WA, Focus Psychology can provide counselling support to assist your recovery after a work related injury or motor vehicle accident.
